Dr. Kay Han is a southern California native originally from Los Angeles. She moved to San Diego to attend the University of California, San Diego for her undergraduate studies and quickly fell in love with the city. While pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Physiology at UCSD, Dr. Han shadowed a local podiatrist and was intrigued by the multiple facets the profession offered. She decided to attend the New York College of Podiatric Medicine to pursue a medical degree in podiatry. After successfully earning a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from NYC, she returned to Los Angeles to complete a rigorous three-year surgical residency in Foot and Rearfoot Reconstructive Surgery. During this period, Dr. Han was extensively trained in diagnosing and treating various lower extremity conditions. Dr. Han followed up her residency training by completing an elective fellowship training in Sports Medicine accredited by the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine in San Clemente, CA.
Dr. Han is Board Certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She believes that a good doctor-patient relationship can lead to better treatment outcomes and enjoys educating patients on their pathologies. Her special interests are forefoot reconstructive surgery, wound care, diabetic limb salvage, and sports medicine. She is also an editor for WebMD article topics related to foot and ankle.
When she is not tending to her patients, Dr. Han enjoys running, gastronomy, and spending time with her family. She is fluent in Korean and Japanese. She is thrilled to be a part of the Seaside Foot and Ankle team along with Dr. Smith to provide care to the local community.
