Dr.Banks is a board-certified and fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon. With her extensive training in diabetic limb salvage and advanced wound care as well as being an acclaimed medical author and lecturer, Dr. Banks provides the absolute highest-quality results possible for her patients. Warm, friendly, and professional, Dr. Banks’ approachability and skill always put her patients at ease.
She completed her BS in pre-med/biology, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of New Mexico. While there in Albuquerque, Dr. Banks spent significant time performing breast cancer clinical research at Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute. She completed an internship at the National Cancer Institute and National Institute of Health as well as additional studies at Yale University School of Medicine and Case Western Reserve/Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Banks completed her podiatric medicine degree at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. While in Philadelphia she worked at the Gait Lab studying foot and ankle pathologies and assisted in developing athletic tennis shoes for Stride Rite for Kids. Dr. Banks next completed a 7-year surgical and research fellowship at the Carl T Hayden Phoenix VA Medical Center where she became expert in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery. She also assisted companies in clinical trials for new wound healing products to aid diabetic patients and protocols in amputation prevention. Finally, she perfected her surgical skills at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Plastic Surgery where she performed surgery on over 1,000 patients.
Dr. Banks is excited to be part of the Seaside Foot & Ankle team and happy to be back home in Chula Vista where her family has resided for more than 20 years. She has two boys, Jaydon 11 and James, 9 years old with whom she spends most of her time when not at work.
